Operation Laguz focused on tackling county lines drug dealing. Through the use of warrants, plain clothes officers and stop search tactics a larger scale county lines drug dealing has been identified resulting in the arrest and prosecution of a number of offenders and the safeguarding of juveniles being exploited. Ongoing scanning of incident reports and intelligence to identify for drug use and supply in the area.
This has led to a reduction of reports noted by local policing.

Concerns around car cruising and 'Boy Racers'. The issues range from noise generated to traffic offences and anti-social vehicle use as seen at various locations along the A34 and the A500.

Regular operations by the Road Crime Team targeting vehicles for speeding, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and any breaches of Public Space Protection Orders. This is supplemented by dedicated officers at peak times to proactively police and deter vehicles from car cruising. Vehicles to be seized and fines issues where offences identified. CCTV used to retrospectively identify and prosecute any offences identified. Joint working with neighbouring forces to co-ordinate response to car cruising and associated ASB.
Patrols continue by local officers, supported by our Road Crime Team to monitor and identify enforcement opportunities.

We have seen an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour associated with licensed premises within the area. A consultation with Police and Newcastle Borough Council Licensing officers is underway.
