Investigation launched following rape report

Main article content

News
Published: 11:10 12/10/2026

We’re investigating following a report of a rape in Stoke-on-Trent this morning (Monday 12 October).

Officers were called to Newpool Road in Knypersley shortly before 7.55am when the incident was reported to us.

A teenage girl was walking in the area when she was approached by a man, who has been described to us as white, around 6ft 1ins tall, dressed in black joggers, a black puffer coat and wearing a balaclava. He grabbed her and pulled her into bushes.

Specialist officers are supporting the girl at this time.

A cordon has been put in place in the area and officers are actively carrying out enquiries, including house to house and reviewing CCTV.

There will be a number of officers in the area today while we continue working hard to investigate the report and engage with people in the local area.

We’re keen to speak to anyone with any information, including dog walkers who may have been in the area between 7am and 8am today and anyone with dashcam footage in the area of Knypersley traffic lights, the railway line and around Lineside Road. Call 101 or report online using our website, quoting incident 104 of 12 October.

To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
