Four people have been arrested as part of a murder investigation after a man died and another man was seriously injured in Stoke-on-Trent.
We were called at 11.45pm yesterday (Friday 9 October) to Brookhouse Road in Meir following reports of violence.
Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Sadly, a man in his late teens, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers at this time.
Another man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
He remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
We have worked throughout the night to carry out inquiries at pace, and this morning (Saturday 10 October), four people are in our custody. They include:
Detective Inspector Katie Gregory, who is the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “This is a devastating time for all those affected by what has happened overnight.
“I'd like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk to them and we are doing all we can to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area at around 11.30pm yesterday, who hasn’t already spoken to us, to make contact with us as part of our investigation.”
A cordon remains in place at the scene and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have relevant information or footage.
