A man has been jailed for nearly three years after he assaulted and repeatedly threatened two women over a period of three weeks.
Junaid Mohammed, 27, from Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to two-years-and-ten-months behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday (28 October) after he pleaded guilty to threatening to damage or destroy property, harassment – put in fear of violence, sending communication threatening death or serious harm and assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm.
In February this year, officers were called to a hotel in Stoke-on-Trent following reports that a woman had been assaulted.
We then received a report that over the last three weeks, Mohammed had sent another woman death threats as well as threatened to damage her car and house. He had also repeatedly called the victim and when she did not answer, stood outside her house.
Mohammed initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty in court.
PC Olivia May, of the Criminal Investigation Department, said: “Mohammed’s offending had a significant impact on the victims and despite him initially denying the offences, we worked hard to gather evidence against him.
“I hope this sentencing offers some closure to the victims and shows that we will take action against those who harm others in our communities.”
