A man has been charged with a series of offences following a non-stop fatal collision in Stoke-on-Trent.
Leon Salt, 20, of Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, handling stolen goods, driver of a vehicle failing to stop after a road accident, driver of a vehicle involved in a road accident fail to report that accident, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving a motor vehicle without third party insurance.
It comes following a collision on Newcastle Lane in Penkhull on 11 April. A car collided with a pedestrian, 51-year-old Christopher Deaville, who sadly died as a result of his injuries.
Specialist officers are continuing to support Christopher’s family.
Salt was also charged with a series of other offences relating to separate incidents. He was charged with escape from lawful custody, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, handling stolen goods, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving a motor vehicle without third party insurance and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
Salt is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Friday 20 June).
