Man jailed for 23 years after attempted murder

A man has been jailed for 23 years after admitting the attempted murder of a man in Biddulph.

Jordan Williamson, 32, of Congleton, Cheshire, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Monday 15 December) after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder at an earlier hearing.

Williamson also pleaded guilty to possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place, affray and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

We were called at 1.10am on Saturday 15 March 2025 to reports of a burglary at a property on Congleton Road, Biddulph. A man who lived at the property was stabbed multiple times and was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, chest and back. The victim sustained life-changing injuries.  

We arrested Williamson at the scene and he was charged the next day.

Detective Constable Tracey Gascoine, of CID North, said: “I commend the bravery of the victim and his wife throughout the investigation. They have been supported by specially-trained officers since the attack.

“This was a vicious attack on a man inside his own home. He didn’t know Williamson.

“We worked hard to bring Williamson to justice and I hope today’s sentence goes some way to providing some comfort to the victim and his family.”
