A man has been charged with a significant number of burglary and theft offences following a series of incidents across Tamworth and Lichfield.
Callum Gaines, 18, of Tamworth, has been charged with six counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, seven counts of theft of a motor vehicle and one count of resisting a constable in execution of duty.
It comes following a series of separate incidents across Lichfield and Tamworth over the last 11 months being investigated by our priorities team. Multiple cars were stolen, including a Ford Fiesta, Renault, Peugeot, Audi and a Volkswagen, believed to be worth more than £100,000 collectively. Multiple car keys were also stolen.
Gaines is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Thursday 1 May).
We’re working extremely hard across Staffordshire to tackle burglary, theft and robbery. By working proactively, we’ve been able to reduce the number of burglaries, robberies and thefts from the person from December 2023 to December 2024, when compared to the previous year. Overall crime also reduced by more than 1,000 incidents in the same period.
