We’re continuing to carry out enquiries in Cannock after a man was found with a serious injury.
Officers were called to Hampton Street at 11.30pm on Tuesday night (29 April) when a man was seen in the area with an injury to his neck.
He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
Specially-trained officers are supporting the man’s family at this time.
Detectives have been working hard to find out more about what happened to the man and have been carrying out a number of enquiries in the area. A forensic examination has been carried out at the cordon on Longford Road, where the man was seen shortly before suffering the injury.
Inspector Lee Walker, from the Cannock local policing team, said: “We know this incident has caused alarm with many people living locally, and we want to assure you that we’re working at pace to find out what happened to the man and to provide you with all the information we can.
“We know he was seen outside One Stop on Longford Road shortly before suffering the injury to his neck. No suspects have currently been identified, but we’re actively carrying out further enquiries to establish more information.
“I can assure local communities that we will continue to share all of the information we can in relation to this investigation, while supporting the man’s family as much as possible.”
