We are appealing for information after a woman sustained life-threatening injuries following a collision at a service station in Stafford.
We were called at around 12 noon yesterday (Thursday 3 April) to the Texaco station on Lammascote Road following reports of a car being involved in a collision with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
She remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 75-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of road traffic act offences. He has since been released under investigation while our inquiries continue.
We are urging anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 315 of 3 April.
Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
