We stopped a vehicle on the A500 at Audley and Alsager at 10.50am on Tuesday 29 October.
The silver Audi A5 pulled over and we found out it was uninsured.
The driver made off from the scene on foot into nearby fields, close to Park Lane.
A number of large bags of cannabis, weighing around 20kg in total and worth in the region of £100,000, were recovered from the boot of the vehicle.
We have seized the car and are examining it forensically as part of our continuing enquiries.
We are also working proactively to trace the driver.
Anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 194 of 29 October.
