We are extremely saddened to confirm that a body has been located today (Saturday 16 March) inside a building on Brockley Square, Hanley, following a fire earlier this week.
A post-mortem will be held in due course to establish the cause of death and we are working to identify the deceased.
We are liaising closely with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to understand the cause of the fire.
We are particularly keen to hear from any taxi drivers that may have been in the area of Brockley Square, near Trinity Street, in the early hours of Tuesday morning (12 March).
