Two suspected vehicle thieves have been arrested after they tried to drive away when officers turned up in south Staffordshire.
We got a call just after 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 27 March) when two men were reportedly trying to steal a VW Golf on Holyhead Road.
When officers turned up, the men tried to drive away but were stopped. The car that they were in, an Audi, was on cloned plates. We found black rubber gloves, car registration plates, tools and multiple mobiles phones following a search.
A 30-year-old man, from Birmingham, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, going equipped for vehicle theft and conspiracy to steal a vehicle.
A 19-year-old man, from Birmingham, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, going equipped for vehicle theft and conspiracy to steal a vehicle.
Both are being questioned about what happened in custody today (28 March).
