A man jailed for life for murdering two women has been sentenced over non-recent child sexual abuse.
Alun Kyte, aged 58, was sent to prison in March 2000 for the murders of Samo Paull and Tracey Turner.
Today, (Thursday 11 May), Kyte, of HMP Onley, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 10 years and eight months, after being found guilty of a total of 11 offences, in February, relating to the sexual abuse of a child in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how the charges ranged from buggery, to gross indecency, indecent assault and attempting to strangle a child between 1989 and 1994.
Kyte intends to appeal his latest conviction.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Katie Page, who led the investigation, said: “The victim showed great strength and determination in reporting what happened to them all those years ago.
“I’m pleased the jury saw through Kyte’s lies and found him guilty of this horrendous abuse.
“This sentence reflects the seriousness of the abuse the victim suffered and I hope it goes some way to providing some comfort to them, as they have shown real courage throughout the legal proceedings.
“I hope the victim is now able to come to terms with what happened to them and look forward to the future.
“This case shows that it doesn’t matter how long it takes, we will always do whatever we can to support victims and help them achieve justice.”
