We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
We were called to the A500 in Wolstanton at 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday 4 May).
Officers attended with our colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Midlands Air Ambulance and West Midlands Ambulance Service also in attendance.
We found a silver Audi RS Q8, a red Nissan Qashqai and a black Nissan Grandland involved in a collision.
The red Nissan Qashqai was found on its roof and the Nissan Grandland on its side.
An Asian man, wearing black clothing, from the silver Audi, was seen leaving the scene on foot heading in the direction of Porthill.
The driver of the Grandland, a man in his 80s, was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital.
He remains in a critical but stable condition.
A woman, in her 50s and a passenger in the Grandland, were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
