A man has been arrested following a house fire in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
We were called to Wereton Road, Audley, just before 8.30am on Thursday (30 November). The house was found well-alight and our colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service later extinguished it.
Sadly, a dog inside the address died as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire has since been deemed deliberate.
A 30-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested on suspicion of arson.
He has since been released on conditional police bail as we continue to investigate what happened.
We are keen to speak to witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the fire.
