A man has been jailed for non-recent child sexual abuse.
Patrick Elkin aged 64, of Longbrook Avenue in Burton, was handed a six-year jail term at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday (10 August).
Elkin admitted two counts of sexual assault of a girl between 2017 and 2019 and one count of sexual activity with a boy between 2018 and 2020, at a previous court hearing.
During sentencing, Elkin was also handed a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and a restraining order.
Staffordshire Police began investigating Elkin in 2020. He was arrested and subsequently charged in March this year.
Detective Constable Tracy Adams, of Staffordshire Police’s Child Protection and Exploitation Team (CPET), said: “I would like to commend the victims’ bravery in coming forward to report what happened to them.
“I’m pleased that the judge handed Elkin a custodial sentence for his offending and hope that it provides some comfort for the victims and their families.
“I would like to encourage anyone who may be a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and report it to us, regardless of when the abuse occurred, as we will do all we can to support you and bring offenders to justice.”
