An 18-year-old has been arrested following reports a man was seen with a handgun in Fenton yesterday (12 April).
Firearms officers attended an area off Smithpool Road in Fenton at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon following a report that a man had been seen with what was believed to be a gun.
They carried out a thorough area search with support from the National Police Air Service, and a man from the local area was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place.
He is in custody.
Detective Constable Dave Stubbs, of Staffordshire Police, said: “I’m aware there were a number of members of the public present at the time and I’d welcome any information they can assist us with.
“In particular I’m keen to hear from a woman who asked the caller to ring the police as she may have information that is very important.”
Any witnesses or anyone with any information can call 101 or report online quoting incident number 476 of 12 April or [email protected]
