Safety Camera Vans

The safety camera vans or mobile speed cameras are deployed daily across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent with the aim of reducing speeding and improving road safety.

All the locations used by the safety camera vans have been carefully risk assessed to ensure they don't put other road users or pedestrians at risk.

All the locations used have been assessed and pedestrian access and safety is not compromised. Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council are part of the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership who along with Staffordshire Police operate the safety camera vans.

Both local authorities have issued special dispensation to each vehicle and a notice showing this is displayed in the front window of the van whenever it is in use.

All the staff who operate the vans are trained and assessed and locations are reviewed regularly. The details about the criteria for the selection of the sites is published here. Details of how they are used is published here.
