Previous Misconduct Meetings

At the conclusion of an investigation into a complaint from a member of the public or an internal misconduct investigation; a senior officer, normally the Head of the Performance & Standards Unit, will consider whether there is a case to answer to for a breach of one of the Standards of Professional Behaviour.

If it is determined that there is a case to answer then the matter will go forward to a Misconduct Meeting. A Misconduct Meeting is a formal process chaired by senior Police Officer or Police Staff Manager who will listen to all the evidence and can impose the following sanctions :

  1. Take no further action
  2. Provide written advice
  3. Issue a written warning (this will remain live for 12 months)
  4. Issue a final written warning (this will remain live for 18 months).
