Summer is often a time for celebration, socialising with friends and enjoying the outdoors, so we’re encouraging everyone to consider their safety this summer by launching our ‘Summer of ‘24’ campaign.
Show your support for a safer summer by:
Making travel plans before you set off on a night out: If you’re heading out to meet friends for a drink, make sure you plan your journey home in advance. Even one drink can affect your ability to drive safely, so book a taxi, find a designated driver or use public transport to be on the safe side.
Avoiding driving the morning after a big night out: If you have a big night out you can still be over the limit the morning after so please don’t attempt to drive and find an alternative way to travel.
Being responsible about your behaviour in public: Antisocial behaviour or violence is not acceptable so our officers will be completing high visibility patrols in high footfall areas throughout the tournament to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves safely.
Treating your family with respect, no matter the results of the game: No one should have to experience abusive or violent behaviour in the home from a partner or family member. If you have any concerns about a situation at home then please reach out for support. There is more advice here: https://www.staffordshire.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/daa/domestic-abuse/
Thinking before you type: Online hate is a crime and won’t be tolerated, just because you’re not saying the words to someone face to face they still have the potential to cause distress and harm. We have investigators seeking out abusive online comments and, if they meet a criminal threshold, those posting these comments will be prosecuted and subsequently dealt with by the courts.
Let’s make it a summer to remember…for the right reasons.
