Celebrating one year of Right Care Right Person in Staffordshire

This month marks one year since we successfully launched Right Care Right Person in Staffordshire.

Over the past 12 months, we have made a real difference in ensuring that people receive the right support from the right professionals at the right time.

We have:

• Ensured better outcomes for individuals by directing them to the most appropriate services
• Strengthened collaboration between health, social care, and policing partners
• Reduced requirement for police attendance by an average 47 per cent of daily resourced incidents. The average was around 55 incidents per day that’s down to around 29 per day.

The impact of Right Care Right Person is clear, and together, we have shaped a system that truly puts people first. As we look to the future, we are looking to continue building on these achievements.

Following a successful first year, we are now looking ahead, strengthening our response to the mental health needs, in partnership with health, social care, and voluntary sector colleagues.

Our focus will be on:

• Enhancing crisis response – working closely with our partners in mental health services to ensure timely support for those in crisis
• Embedding multi-agency collaboration – strengthening joint working between police, NHS, local authorities, and community partners
• Strengthening our response – As we continue to enhance Right Care Right Person, a key priority is ensuring our officers and staff have the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to individuals experiencing mental health crises.
