Thanks for trying the 'beta' version of our new website. It's a work in progress, we'll be adding new services over the next few weeks, so please take a look and tell us what you think.
Our new approach to domestic abuse has already exceeded expectations, with 100% of all victims surveyed about their experience saying they were satisfied with the service and they would recommend it to a friend.
In November we introduced Enhanced Video Response a new way to respond to domestic abuse reports that takes more of a trauma-informed approach, resulting in better engagement from the victims and any required safeguarding in place earlier.
The new initiative uses secure video technology to enable officers to speak and see domestic abuse victims more swiftly than if we relied on a physical response – and as we know, prompt engagement with victims is more likely to lead to positive outcomes.
As part of the experience, the majority of victims are asked to complete a short survey to help the team understand how their performance meets expectations. Early indications are extremely positive with the following results so far:
• 100% of victims surveyed stated they would recommend a virtual service to a friend or relative in similar circumstances
• 95% of victims surveyed stated they preferred a virtual call to a face to face response
• 100% of victims surveyed stated they were satisfied with the length of time it took to receive a response
• 100% of victims surveyed stated that the service they received, exceed or far exceeded their expectations.
Those responding to the survey have also left feedback like “Outstanding service”, “Feels less invasive” and “The virtual call was fantastic, very informative and helpful”.
Detective Inspector Charlie Emmett, head of the EVR, said: “The initial data received is great and is demonstrating how much of a difference the new team is making. They have all undergone extensive training to deliver the most qualified service to the victims and to see the positive responses coming back is a real boost to the team in these early weeks.
“We are determined to continue delivering an outstanding service to victims and sending a clear message that domestic abuse is not tolerated. We will take swift and effective action where required, protecting vulnerable victims and preventing reoffending.”
The team are available between 8am-10pm, seven days a week to help victims that are safe, willing and able.
