Arrests made following reports of men with firearms in Burton-on-Trent

We have arrested two people after responding to reports of men with firearms in Burton-on-Trent.

Shortly after 1pm this afternoon (Friday 2 May), we were called to Parkway, near Shobnall Road, after two men were seen carrying long-barrelled weapons.

Armed officers were sent to the scene. Two people matching the description of the men were stopped and officers then established the men had been carrying BB-guns.

Two people, aged 34 and 25, from Burton-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Armed officers have now left the scene.
