Three people have been arrested after a car was stolen at knifepoint in Stoke-on-Trent.
We were called shortly after 11.30pm on Monday (13 January) to Sandy Road, Sandyford, following reports of a robbery.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was sat in the driver’s seat of his car when he was approached by a group of people who threatened him with a knife.
He left the scene and the vehicle, a Skoda Octavia, was driven off.
A short time later, the Skoda came to a stop on the northbound carriageway of the M6, near junction 19.
Following joint work between our road crime team, Cheshire Police, a police dog and dog handler from Merseyside Police and the National Police Air Service (NPAS), three people were located and arrested.
A 17-year-old boy, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, failing to stop when required by a constable and robbery.
A 21-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and robbery.
A 20-year-old woman, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and robbery.
All three have been released on conditional police bail while our enquiries continue.
