A second man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman from Great Haywood, near Stafford.
Following a call from our colleagues at West Midlands Ambulance Service, at around 5.10pm, yesterday (Wednesday 29 January), we went to an address on Devereux Gardens.
A woman, who was inside the property, was taken to hospital. Sadly, she later died.
Last night we arrested a 50-year-old man, from the Rugeley area, on suspicion of murder and controlling/coercive behaviour.
Today (Thursday 30 January), a 24-year-old man, from the Stafford area, has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.
Both remain in police custody.
Investigating officers are examining CCTV and carrying out house-to-house enquiries, so there will be a heightened police presence in the area over the next few days.
The incident is being referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following previous police contact.
