We are advising drivers to take extra care on the roads as weather warnings for snow and ice are set to remain in place over the weekend.
An amber cold health alert has been issued for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, with temperatures set to fall to as low as -4.5C in the Moorlands.
Our new road crime team (RCT) and wider force will be working proactively to help ensure that road users across the county stay safe.
Scott McGrath, who heads up the RCT, said: “To ensure you protect yourselves and other road users from the impact of icy roads, we suggest that you take a number of precautions.
“Clear your car of ice and snow, including the windscreen, rear window, wing mirrors and roof, before driving. Maintain extra distance from other vehicles and allow for extra braking time.
“Don’t start driving until the windscreen is fully defrosted and avoid driving altogether if weather conditions are extreme.”
If you become stuck, or would like to report adverse conditions on a particular road, please call us on 101, or use Live Chat on our website.
In an emergency, always call 999.
