Man due in court over rape and assault

A man is due in court today (Monday 10 February) charged with a number of sexual and violence offences after a woman was assaulted in Tamworth.

Theodore Oprea, aged 26, of Two Gates, Tamworth, has been charged with rape, suffocation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. 

He was remanded in police custody ahead of appearing before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre later.
