Three people have been arrested after three homes were searched this morning (Wednesday 12 February) as part of an ongoing investigation into vehicle theft conspiracy in Staffordshire.
We’ve been compiling intelligence and working proactively to investigate a series of vehicle thefts across Staffordshire, including in Tamworth and Lichfield. More thefts are also being investigated alongside our colleagues in Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
Tamworth and Lichfield local policing teams worked alongside specialist officers to carry out the warrants in Tamworth earlier today as part of ongoing enquiries.
A 20-year-old man, from Tamworth, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal motor vehicles and dangerous driving. A 28-year-old man, from Tamworth, and a 31-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, have both been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal motor vehicles.
Sergeant Sian Moran, from the Tamworth local policing team, said: “We are committed to tackling vehicle crime and working closely with our neighbouring forces to target those involved in organised thefts.
“These searches form part of our ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activity and protect the belongings of our communities.
“We’re working hard every single day across Staffordshire to relentlessly pursue those involved in theft, robbery and burglary.”
We recently secured the evidence needed to sentence a gang of 11 men for a vehicle theft conspiracy worth an estimated £1.1million.
