We were called to Harpfield Road in Trent Vale at 3.20pm yesterday (Monday 2 September) by our colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
A fire was reported inside a semi-detached house on the road.
Thankfully, no-one was inside at the time and firefighters extinguished the fire. Neighbouring properties were also evacuated as a precaution.
A 28-year-old man, of no fixed address, and a 20-year-old woman, from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
They remain in custody.
