We have joined forces with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, local businesses and the community, as part of a day of action in Hanley to help tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Today, Monday 23 September, our mobile police station is set up near blue clock in Hanley, with representatives of other support services on hand to offer advice and guidance to people in the area.
The aim of the day, which is being held as part of the Making Great Places initiative, is to do some targeted and coordinated joint working in and around the city centre on ongoing issues relating to ASB, crime and community safety concerns.
We hope that this will help provide public reassurance, reduce crime and ASB and promote the work that officers and partner agencies do on a daily basis to assist in making the city centre safe for everyone to enjoy.
Local PCSOs are also on hand, carrying out patrols, engaging with the public and working to reassure people of our visible presence in the area.
Representatives from housing providers, community wardens, trading standards, building maintenance, the rough sleeping team and others are working together to tackle issues such as fly-tipping, homelessness and accommodation solutions and ASB hot-spots in order to show the public what is being done to address their concerns.
This follows a week of action in July this year, as part of the initiative, which saw:
Chief Superintendent Elliott Sharrard-Williams, who leads policing in Stoke-on-Trent, said: “I am pleased we are continuing the momentum in tackling anti-social behaviour and related criminality in Hanley.
“Only by working together with partners across the city will we be able to deliver long-term solutions to the concerns raised to us by those who live, work and visit Stoke-on-Trent.
“I look forward to hearing from the public, so we can continue to tackle key community priorities, taking robust action against anyone causing harm.”
