A man has been jailed for drug offences after officers discovered a 90-plant cannabis grow in Stoke-on-Trent.
Indrit Nuhiallri, aged 35, of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 12 September charged with being concerned in the production of a controlled drug of class B - cannabis.
He was handed a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to the offence. He was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £154 and the plants were seized and destroyed.
The court heard how Nuhiallri was arrested on 11 September after officers were alerted to a suspicious property in Fenton.
When officers arrived at the address, Nuhiallri attempted to escape via the back door but was apprehended by officers who arrested him.
When searching the property, officers discovered 16 cannabis plants in the front bedroom and a further 22 plants in a rear bedroom.
The attic had been converted into a full cannabis grow and the electricity had been bypassed.
Officers informed Western Power Distribution who stopped the supply and made the property safe.
PC Lucy Young, the officer in charge of the case, said: “I’m pleased Nuhiallri was handed a custodial sentence for his offending and that we were able to disrupt the production and supply of cannabis in Stoke-on-Trent with his prosecution.”
