A man has been arrested after a woman tragically died in a collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
We were called to High Street, Knutton, just after 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 25 September) after a silver Toyota Icon collided with railings.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene.
Our colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
A passenger in the Toyota, a woman in her 30s, was freed from the vehicle. She was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died.
The woman’s family are being supported by specialist officers at this traumatic time.
The driver and a second passenger from the car were not injured.
A 22-year-old man, from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. He remains in custody.
We are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time, or those with any information that could help.
