We are investigating after a man required surgery after he was assaulted in Stoke-on-Trent.
We were called at 1.20am on Monday morning (9 September) to reports a man had been assaulted near to Stoke Road in Shelton.
The victim was with a group of friends and had been into the shop at the Shell petrol station on Stoke Road.
A group of three men in dark clothing wearing face coverings and hoods up shouted at the victim and his friends, who then started to run away.
The victim was punched and injured with a plastic weapon. He received cuts to his face, neck, chest, arm and damaged ligaments in his hand which required surgery.
