We have arrested two people after finding a lock knife following a collision involving a police car in Stoke-on-Trent.
Officers followed a Renault Scenic at about 1.30am yesterday (Thursday 17 October) following concerns the car was driving on false plates.
When the car got onto Northcote Avenue, it came to a stop and then started reversing.
The car then collided with the police car. None of the officers were injured.
The Renault ended up on its roof and both cars were extensively damaged.
One person from inside the car ran away but was quickly found. The two others were stopped for a search, where a lock knife was found.
A 37-year-old man, from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, assault with intent to resist arrest and criminal damage.
A 17-year-old boy, also from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft.
Both remain in custody while enquiries continue.
A man in his 30s was originally arrested but was later de-arrested.
