We have seized an estimated £60,000-worth of stolen plant machinery in Burton-on-Trent as part of our continued efforts to proactively target rural crime.
On Saturday (16 November), officers from our county proactive and rural team (CPART) worked together with our criminal investigations department (CID) to search an address near Burton Road in Stapenhill.
We found an excavator and a dumper truck, valued at about £30,000 each, that had been stolen from a construction site in Burton-on-Trent in February.
The machinery has been seized while we continue to progress our investigation.
We launched CPART in October this year and have been focusing our efforts on proactively targeting those involved in rural crime, including agriculture, equine, wildlife and heritage offences.
Around 80 per cent of Staffordshire is considered rural and we’re determined to provide the best possible service to residents and businesses affected by this type of crime.
