A closure order has been granted for a property in Stoke-on-Trent following persistent reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Yesterday (Thursday 7 November), we secured a three-month closure for an address on Buckthorn Drive, thanks to evidence submitted by officers from Stoke North local policing team (LPT) and Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s ASB team.
This positive action is in response to reports from local residents of ASB linked to the property.
The order prohibits any person from entering the premises other than emergency service workers and professionals.
Sergeant Vicky Welch, from Stoke North LPT, said: “Everyone living in our towns and cities should feel safe in their surroundings and we are committed to tackling any type of anti-social behaviour.
“This is welcome news to everyone involved in securing this order, particularly our problem-solving lead, PC Paul Seddon, who has worked tirelessly alongside other members of the problem-solving team on this.
“We have already received positive feedback from members of the community and we will continue to work with our partners to take action against those who cause persistent problems to residents across Stoke-on-Trent.”
Councillor Majid Khan, cabinet member for Safe and Resilient Communities, said: “Another great success for restoring peace within the community and outstanding collaborative work between our own ASB Team and Staffordshire Police.
"Local officers have supported local residents throughout and have gathered the evidence required to get this order in place.
“Every single one of us has the right to feel safe where we live, work and visit. I ask anyone, who may have concerns about activity taking place where they live, to report it. Together we can tackle the problems and provide support to those who need it.”
The activity follows our Making Great Places initiative alongside the council, aimed at tackling the main priorities affecting residents and acting robustly on local concerns as part of our vision in making Stoke-on-Trent a cleaner, safer, healthier and wealthier place for everyone.
