A man has been jailed for five years after we found two firearms in a company car in Stoke-on-Trent.
Levi Jones, 31, of Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday 15 November after he previously admitted two counts of possessing a firearm and one count of possessing a firearm when prohibited for five years.
In April last year, we carried out a search on a Skoda Octavia that had been recovered after it had been failed to be returned to a company. We found a black bag under the driver’s seat with two firearms and ammunition inside.
A forensic analysis of the weapons led to a DNA hit on Jones, who was then arrested and charged with the offences.
We’re taking the fight to those involved in serious and organised crime across Staffordshire. More than 1,000 people suspected of firearm and drug offences have been arrested since we launched our crackdown in May last year.
In Shelton, we also carried out a 53-day strike against crime and arrested more than 120 people as part of a wider initiative with Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
