A woman has pleaded guilty to drink driving offences after she was caught for being four times over the limit near a school in Tamworth.
Amanda Garland, 47, from Tamworth, appeared at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 April after pleading guilty to drink driving.
She was stopped by us in February this year after people on Fossdale Road, Stonydelph, spotted her getting out of her car and being unsteady on her feet.
Garland initially refused to provide a breath test even though we found a bottle of wine in her bag.
The 47-year-old then provided a positive breath test of 143 – more than four times the legal drink drive limit of 35.
Garland is due to be sentenced on 27 June at Cannock Magistrates’ Court.
PC Alex Skinner, who dealt with the case, said: “Drink and drug driving can have devastating consequences on people’s lives. Those who ignore the law and put themselves and others in danger will be targeted as we continue to make our roads as safe as possible.
“Our message is simple. If you’re not fit to drive, don’t.”
