We have seized two stolen motorbikes following a crackdown on anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend.
Since its launch last year, Operation Transom has seen us working with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to target riders who damage public green spaces and put the public at risk through vehicle-related ASB.
Just after 2pm on Saturday (23 March), proactive officers recovered and seized two stolen motorbikes from an address in Meir.
The vehicles are believed to have been involved in previous incidents of ASB in the area. An e-scooter, which is suspected to have been stolen, was also found at the address.
Officers from our road policing unit deployed a drone to help trace the vehicles.
Temporary Chief Inspector Rob Peacock said: “We take reports of vehicle-related ASB seriously and nuisance bikers are a constant source of concern for our communities. The bikes involved are often stolen.
“We will build on this weekend’s success by proactively targeting those involved in this behaviour by continuing to step up patrols in problem areas and employing other techniques at our disposal, including the use of drones to help us track offenders in real-time.”
Operation Transom was launched to provide a partnership approach to tackling the use of off-road motorbikes.
Part of this work has seen increased patrols around hotspot areas and seizing bikes that are used to commit ASB.
