Man arrested following series of burglaries

We have arrested a man following a series of burglaries in Stoke-on-Trent.

Most recently, we received reports just before 9.30am on 24 February of windows damaged at a healthcare centre on Scotia Road, Tunstall.

It also comes following a spate of burglaries in the Tunstall area recently.

Following extensive enquiries, we have arrested a man today (1 March).

A 35-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of burglary – with intent to commit damage, burglary and criminal damage.

He has been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue. 

Sergeant Jon Tench, of Stoke North local policing team, said: “Enquiries into the recent incidents are ongoing and we have stepped up local patrols in the area to provide reassurance to business owners and residents.

“We are progressing our lines of enquiry as quickly as possible, looking over CCTV, awaiting forensic analysis and speaking to people in the area as part of our ongoing efforts to target those responsible. 

“We have met with many local residents and business owners in the Tunstall area and we do not underestimate the profound impact that theft and damage can have on local businesses and people’s livelihoods. We want to tackle the issues that matter most to local people, target thieves proactively and do all we can to support businesses across the city as much as possible.
