We have arrested a man following a flat fire in Biddulph.
We received a call from our colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service at 4.45pm on Saturday (2 March) following a fire at a flat on Lucerne Road.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters and residents living in nearby flats close to the fire were evacuated.
We arrested a man during the early hours of Sunday (3 March).
A 49-year-old man, from Biddulph, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage.
He was questioned in custody and has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
We are working with fire investigators to determine how the fire started.
