Two men have been arrested as our investigation continues into an incident involving a group of men and a car in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
At 3.10pm on Tuesday (11 June), we got a call saying that suspected gunshots were heard on Rutland Road in Kidsgrove.
Following enquiries, we established that an altercation between the group and someone who was driving a car happened on Lamb Street.
A loud bang was heard, prompting people to report gunshots to us.
We’d like to reiterate that no-one was injured and no evidence of any viable firearm being used has been found.
We’ve been looking over CCTV from the area, speaking to people who were there and carrying out enquiries to find out more about what happened.
Officers recently searched an address in the area and found two BB-guns, as well as cannabis.
A 24-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has since been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Another man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, aged 21, has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Both of them have been questioned in custody and released on conditional police bail while we continue to investigate.
We’d like to thank everyone who has already come forward with information to help us with our enquiries into this incident.
