A suspected drug driver and a passenger have been arrested after we stopped a car in Lichfield.
Proactive officers pulled over a Volkswagen Golf at 1.15am this morning (Tuesday 11 June) on Birmingham Road.
We found a small bag and a box containing cannabis inside. The drugs were seized, as well as mobiles phones and more than £130 in cash.
A 23-year-old man, from Kingstanding in Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis and drug driving.
He has been released on conditional police bail while our enquiries continue.
A 27-year-old man, from Glamorgan, Wales, was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Tragically, 45 people lost their lives in road collisions across our county in 2023. We’re committed to proactively policing our roads and taking action against those putting other motorists at risk.
Recently, we launched our Look Again campaign in a bid to reduce the number of serious and fatal collisions in Staffordshire. We arrested 70 people on suspicion of a number of driving offences over the course of the campaign.
