The Newcastle-under-Lyme local policing team (LPT) have been busy this week protecting vulnerable members of the community and tracking down suspects
Domestic violence response:
Newcastle officers responded to a report of a domestic incident. Initially deemed a no-crime situation, officers built a rapport with the victim, uncovering a history of controlling and coercive behaviour, assaults, criminal damage, and threats.
Working with the local safeguarding team officers ensured immediate and long-term safeguarding for the victim. The suspect was arrested and the victim now feels safe and supported throughout the criminal justice process.
Sergeant Carl Bradley, from the Newcastle-under-Lyme LPT, said: “This incident underscores the many forms of domestic abuse and our commitment to protecting those affected. Through swift action and strong partnerships, we help victims feel secure in their homes.”
Great work by our officers this week!
Three boys arrested in ongoing robbery investigation:
We also made significant strides in an ongoing robbery investigation in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
On the evening of Thursday 2 May, a young victim was approached by three boys near the sunken roundabout on Barracks Road. Two of the suspects brandished knives and demanded the victim's shoes, worth around £200.
Thanks to our relentless efforts and a social media appeal, we have tracked down and arrested three suspects from various locations:
- A 16-year-old from Burton-on-Trent
- A 15-year-old from Clywd, North Wales
- A 14-year-old from Bedfordshire
These boys have been questioned and released on conditional bail as our investigation continues.
Sergeant Steven Anckaert of the Newcastle-under-Lyme local policing team stated, “We won’t tolerate burglary, theft, and robbery. Those who steal from our residents and businesses will be robustly targeted using a range of tactics.”
Two arrests made following burglary investigation:
This week, officers from Newcastle-under-Lyme successfully tracked down stolen property and made two significant arrests.
On Sunday, 17 March, items including tools and a high-value racing bike were stolen from a garage near Sandy Lane. Our dedicated officers gathered crucial evidence by reviewing CCTV to identify where the items were taken to.
Their efforts led them to an address near Weston Road in Stoke-on-Trent. Here, they discovered several of the stolen items along with 14 other pedal and electric bikes suspected to have been taken in separate incidents.
Two men, aged 47 and 30 from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of burglary. They have been questioned and released under investigation as our enquiries continue.
The stolen items have now been returned to their rightful owner. A huge thank you to our team for their hard work and dedication in keeping our community safe!
Celebrating bravery and dedication:
We are proud to announce that three of our officers from Newcastle have been honoured with the Chief Constable’s Award this month for their outstanding bravery and dedication to safeguarding our community. Congratulations to PC Lucy Preston, PC Liam McCormick, and PC Thomas Anderson!
Chief Inspector Daz McGrath, Newcastle Commander, expressed his pride, saying: "Officers carry out daily acts of bravery, and our primary focus is to protect those most vulnerable in our communities. I was proud to deliver these awards so the officers could be recognised for their ongoing hard work."
Join us in celebrating their remarkable achievements!
