A cordon has been lifted at the Museum of Cannock Chase on Valley Road, Hednesford, following reports of a suspicious package.
Officers were called just after midday today (Thursday 13 June). A cordon was put in place and two nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution.
The Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) assessed the package.
Commercial explosives, which are commonly used for industrial purposes, were found at the site. We'd like to reiterate that we're not treating the incident as suspicious and there's no wider threat to the local community.
We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and support while this incident was dealt with.
If you do find a suspicious package, please call 999 immediately. Maintain a safe distance and warn others in the area.
