Three men have been arrested after a man was attacked with machetes in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
We received a report around 12.10am this morning (12 July) that a man had been stabbed in Apedale Country Park near Chesterton.
Shortly before, the victim was approached by three masked men armed with machetes.
The victim was able to drive away and went to hospital for treatment.
Thankfully, his injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.
All three suspects also left the area in a red car.
Armed officers were deployed to search for the suspects. We think one of them got out the car at some point while the other two carried on driving.
The car went into Cheshire, prompting our colleagues over the border to sting it and bring it to a stop.
A 22-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
A 21-year-old man, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
A third man, aged 22, from Stoke-on-Trent, was also arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
All three will be questioned in custody.
We’ve set up a cordon in the area and are continuing to progress our investigation.
