A man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted in Stoke-on-Trent.
Just after 11.30pm on Friday (5 July) officers drove by a man stumbling on City Road in Fenton.
When they stopped to safeguard the man an officer was dragged to the ground. She has since been to hospital and has a potentially fractured hand.
A 41-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating of an emergency worker and common assault of an emergency worker.
He has since been released under investigation while our enquiries continue.
Anyone with any information that can help us with our enquiries is asked to get in touch, particularly those with CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage of the area at the time.
