We are investigating a serious collision in east Staffordshire.
Officers went to the A38 at around 1.20am today (Wednesday 17 July) after a white Audi A1 collided with two stationary vehicles on the southbound carriageway.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene.
Our colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
The driver of the Audi, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.
Two other men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were also taken to hospital for treatment.
We are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area or those with any information that could help.
Call us on 101, quoting incident 19 of 17 July, or message us using Live Chat on our website.
