Fifth man arrested after man died in Normacot

A fifth man has been arrested after a man died in Normacot.

We launched our investigation after being called by the ambulance service to reports that a man was in cardiac arrest on Buccleuch Road, Normacot, at 12.50am on Monday (22 July).

Thapelo Jali, aged 21, was found in an alleyway with serious injuries and sadly nothing could be done to save him. 

Specialist officers continue to support Thapelo’s family, who have asked for privacy at this difficult time. 

A 22-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody. 

The four men charged with murder last Friday are due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on 11 October.
