In response to a planned protest at a business premises in Shenstone yesterday (30 January), we deployed officers proactively to ensure the safety of employees, members of the community and protestors at the site in Lichfield.
Officers were in the area before the protest started and stayed there until it finished.
While we work to reduce the impact of the protest on businesses and the local community, we must balance this with the right to lawful protest.
We’re also aware of a video being circulated online of officers carrying out at an arrest at Lichfield Train Station.
A 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place and possession of a class B drug.
He has since been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
